Jet Airways on Friday swung into a net profit of Rs. 12.4 crore for the second quarter ended September 2010.The airline had reported a net loss of Rs. 406.69 crore in the year-ago period, Jet Airways said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.The company also witnessed a jump of 38.72 per cent in its income from operations in the September quarter at Rs. 2,802.45 crore. Last year, the airline's income from operations stood at Rs. 2,020.11 crore, the filing added.Shares of Jet Airways settled at Rs. 810.45, up 1.24 per cent from previous close on the BSE.
Auto major Mahindra & Mahindra on Friday reported a 7.90 per cent jump in its net profit at Rs. 758.49 crore for the quarter ended September 30.The company had posted a net profit of Rs. 702.94 crore in the corresponding period last year, Mahindra & Mahindra said in a statement.The total income during the second quarter also jumped by 19.23 per cent to Rs. 5,434.36 crore from Rs. 4,557.77 crore in the year-ago period, it added.
State-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) on Friday registered a 33 per cent growth in its standalone net profit at Rs. 1,142.28 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, over the same period last year.The company had reported a net profit of Rs. 857.88 crore in the July-September quarter last fiscal, BHEL said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.Net sales of the Bangalore-based firm rose to Rs. 8,328.41 crore from Rs. 6,625.21 crore in the same quarter a year ago, it added.Shares of BHEL were trading at Rs. 2,475 per piece on the BSE, up 0.95 per cent from the previous close.
