Stock Market Report

The Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex ended the day’s trade at 19,688.06, up 179.17points or 0.92%. The National Stock Exchange’s Nifty shut shop at 5907.65, up 50.30 points or 0.86%. The markets, after opening in the green, witnessed a steep fall on the back of heavy profit booking during the morning session. The Sensex fell as low as 19,321.41, and Nifty hit the bottom at 5,795.90.

Nifty F&O Report

The 50-share S&P CNX Nifty is trading at 5,832.25, after losing 25.10 points or 0.43%.Nifty December futures saw an addition of 7.43% or 1.85 million (mn) units, taking the total outstanding open interest (OI) to 26.84 mn units.

In Nifty calls, 5900 strike price (SP) from the December series was the most active call with an addition of 0.96 mn or 20.75%.Among Nifty puts, 5800 SP from the December month expiry was the most active put with an addition of 0.02 mn or 0.36%. The maximum Call OI outstanding was at 5900 SP (5.60 mn) and that for Puts at 5800 SP (6.96 mn).The respective Support and Resistance levels are: Resistance 5,881.30 Pivot Point 5,838.60 Support 5,789.55. The Nifty Put Call Ratio (PCR) OI wise stood at 1.08 for December-month contracts.

Market watch today

The BSE Sensex advanced 137.26 points or 0.68% to settle at 20,303.12 ,while  the S&P CNX Nifty climbed 43.40 points or 0.72% to end at 6109.45.
The BSE Sensex touched a high and a low of 20,452.30 and 20,199.73 respectively. There were 23 advances against 7 declines on the index.  The BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty reclaimed the crucial levels of 20,300 and 6,100,  respectively. Consumer durables, auto and metal counters were the major gainers in trade today.

Nifty Stock Futures & Options Review

The India VIX shed 1.15% to 21.36 on Monday compared to its previous close of 21.61 on Friday.Finally, the 50-share S&P CNX Nifty settled at 6,105.80, after losing 39.75 points or 0.66%.Nifty October futures saw an addition of 7.98% or 1.93 million (mn) units, taking the total outstanding open interest (OI) to 26.19 mn units.  For Nifty calls, 6200 strike price (SP) from the October series was the most active call with an addition of 0.52 mn or 6.63%.

Among Nifty puts, 6100 SP from the October month expiry was the most active put with a contraction of 0.0.52 mn or 10.71%. The maximum Call OI outstanding was at 6200 SP (8.44 mn) and that for Puts at 6100 SP (5.42 mn).The respective Support and Resistance levels are: Resistance 6,139.87 Pivot Point 6,117.23 Support 6,083.17. The Nifty Put Call Ratio (PCR) OI wise stood at 1.22 for October-month contracts.

Marker Trend

The Sensex closed with gains of 0.4%, while the Nifty ended 0.5% higher. The BSE mid- and small-cap indices however, outperformed the key benchmark indices closing with gains of 0.8% and 1.3%, respectively. Among the front-liners, Tata Motors, Sterlite Industries, Reliance Communication, Reliance Infra and Tata Steel moved up 2-4%, while Bharti Airtel, Hindustan Unilever, HDFC Bank, NTPC and ACC slipped 0-2%. Among the mid caps, CMC, Chambal Fertilisers, RCF, REI Agro and Nirma added 7-18%, while Indiabulls Fin., Apollo Hospitals, Praj Industries, Binani Cement and Radico Khaitan lost 3-4%.

The Sensex closed 136.55 points (0.67%) at 20,203. The index touched a high of 20,368 and a low of 20,107, mid-session. The Nifty settled at 6,090, down 44.95 points (0.73%) after touching an intraday high of 6,145 and a low of 6,058.

The losers outnumbered the gainers today. Of the 30 Sensex stocks, 22 ended in the red while eight settled higher. The Nifty had 39 declining stocks against 11 on the advancing side. Among the broader indices, the BSE Mid-cap index was down 0.51% while the BSE Small-sap ended flat.

Market Overview

The Sensex gained 72 points to close at 20,117. The index hit an intra-day high of 20,268 and an intra-day low of 20,082.
The NSE Nifty added 17 points to close at 6,035 after touching a high of 6,074 and a low of 6,018.
 - Nifty September 2010 futures were near spot price at 5,861.50, compared to spot closing of 5,860.95. Turnover in NSE's futures & options (F&O) segment declined to Rs 1,36,026.59 crore from Rs 1,56,375.34 crore on Tuesday, 14 September 2010.
 - Nifty September 2010 futures were at 6,047.95, at a premium of 12.30 points over spot closing of 6,035.65. Nifty October 2010 futures were at 6,064.90, at a premium of 29.25 points over spot closing of 6,035.65.
The BSE 30-share Sensex was provisionally up 54.76 points or 0.27%, off close to 170 points from the day's high and up close to 15 points from the day's low. The market gained for the second straight trading session today, 27 September 2010. Realty, capital goods, metal and consumer durables stocks rose. But, FMCG stocks fell. IT stocks, too, fell on a firm rupee. US index futures came off highs. Trading in US index futures indicated that the Dow could gain 14 points at the opening bell on Monday, 27 September 2010. Turnover in NSE's futures &  options (F&O) segment declined to Rs 1,40,250.63 crore from Rs 1,45,122.34 crore on Friday, 24 September 2010. The near-month September 2010  derivatives contracts expire on Thursday, 30 September 2010.

Stock Overview

 - Tata Motors September 2010 futures were at premium at 1,083.50 compared to the spot closing of 1,082.
 - Tata Steel September 2010 futures were at a slight premium at 646.95 compared to the spot closing of 646.20.
 - State Bank of India September 2010 futures were at discount at 3,176.10 compared to the spot closing of 3,179.

 - Tata Motors September 2010 futures were at premium at 1031.75 compared to the spot closing of 1027.50.

Nifty Future Review

- The Nifty closed at 5828.70. Nifty future (Sep.) closed at 5841.90 i.e. at a premium of 13.20 points vs. discount of 0.85 points and added 587250 shares in open interest.

- The Nifty future (Oct.) closed at 5855.10 i.e. at a premium of 26.40 points vs. 9.75 points and added 405400 shares in open interest.

- Interpretation: The Nifty future prices ended in the red terrain along with overall addition of open interest and increase in the cost of carry, this is an indication of some longs being built at lower levels.



Stock Option Review

- On the call options front we have seen addition of open interest in September series at strike price of 5900, 6000 and 5800.

- On the put options front we have seen addition of open interest in September Series at strike price of 5800 and 5900.

- OI Concentration Chart Interpretation: From the OI Chart we can see that in September Series addition of open interest on the calls front is seen at strike price of 5900 indicating it as Resistance on the upside whereas on the put options front we have seen addition of open interest at strike price of 5800 indicating it as immediate support on the downside .

- The Nifty closed at 5860.95. Nifty future (Sep.) closed at 5860.10 i.e. at a discount of 0.85 points vs. premium of 16.45 points and added 1347650 shares in open interest.

- The Nifty future (Oct.) closed at 5870.70 i.e. at a premium of 9.75 points vs. 23.30 points and added 224300 shares in open interest.

- Interpretation: The Nifty future prices ended in the green terrain along with overall addition of open interest and decline in the cost of carry, this is an indication of some shorts being built at higher levels

Nifty Report For The Day
- The Nifty closed at 5795.55. Nifty future (Sep.) closed at 5812.00 i.e. at a premium of 16.45 points vs. 3.20 points and shredded -1432250 shares in open interest.

- The Nifty future (Oct.) closed at 5818.85 i.e. at a premium of 23.30 points vs. 7.80 points and added 217400 shares in open interest.

- Interpretation: The Nifty future prices ended in the green terrain along with overall shredding up of open interest and increase in the cost of carry, this is an indication that the market rose on account of short covering.

- On the call options front we have seen addition of open interest in September series at strike price of 5900.

- On the put options front we have seen addition of open interest in September Series at strike price of 5700 and 5800.

Markets ended down for 2nd consecutive day with Nifty taking support of 5450. Nifty was down 42.75 pts at 5462 while Sensex sliced 132 pts to settle at 18179. Euro markets were down 0.70% despite better German ifo business climate at 106.7 while Dow future was below 10k mark after a month due to weaker core durables data at (-)3.8% m/m.

BSE Sensex slipped 132 points to close at 18,180, while, NSE Nifty lost 49 points to close at 5,456.

The Indian market ended in red for the second straight trading session on Wednesday, with the BSE Sensex falling below 18,200 and the NSE Nifty dropping under 5,500. Weak global cues coupled with selling in index heavyweights such as Unitech, DLF, Tata Steel, Hindalco and Cipla dragged the Nifty down, negating a promising recovery in afternoon trade.

The Sensex slipped 132 points to close at 18,180. The index hit an intra-day high of 18,312 and an intra-day low of 18,156. The Nifty lost 49 points to close at 5,456 after touching a high of 5,506 and a low of 5,452.

Options Review - On the call options front we have seen shredding of open interest in August series at strike price of 5400 and 5500, whereas addition of open interest was seen at strike price of 5600. On the put options front we have seen addition of open interest in August Series at strike price of 5500, 5400 and 5200.

Nifty Review - Nifty closed at 5540.20. Nifty future (Aug.) closed at 5527.70 i.e. at a discount of 12.50 points vs. premium of 3.90 points and shredded -586950 shares in open interest.
The Nifty future (Sep.) closed at 5535.65 i.e. at a discount of 4.55 points vs. premium of 8.20 points and added 1781050 shares in open interest.
Interpretation: The Nifty future prices with good gains along with an overall addition of open interest but decline in the cost of carry, this is an indication of some shorts being built at higher levels
